Simplifying life via Organization

OtherInbox - Save your Inbox for real people   I'm on this kick right now to optimize my usage of internet technology to simplify the everyday tasks of my life.  So, I happen to notice the little link under 'Applications' in my Yahoo Mail, titled Automatic Organizer.  With a title like that, I just have to give it a try.

Turns out, it took me to a tool called 'OtherInbox'.  Its supposed to help clear out the clutter in my inbox by automatically sorting my emails into folders defined by me, and sending me a digest daily digest of this activity.

So far, the install if very simple and nothing challenging about the setup.  Surprisingly easy, actually.  No worries with writing macros, scripts or recording actions.  It creates folders and places your email in them respectively, and all automatically without you have to say 'do this'.

Having used it for about a week, I think I'm falling in love with this tool.  The greatest part for me is the digest, which lists the new emails that it auto-sorted into the proper folders by folder name so you can quickly see what emails have come in from who and what the subject is.  Now, all that is in my main inbox are emails that are most important to me but I'm aware of the others, but without the email clutter or the overhead of manually organizing my inbox.

Macro my Inbox

Step-By-Step: Use rules to automate e-mail processing in Lotus Notes

I must start using macro's for my inbox.  Everyday, I get 60 + emails to my inbox, most of which I delete without reading and most of the others I have all good intentions to read, but may never get around to it.

I'd say only 10% of the emails that I receive any given day contain information that I'll read right away.

Man, I really dislike email.  I wish, wish, wish everyone used feeds/blogs instead, but this is just an email oriented world.  Therefore, I must macro my inbox!

Emails/messages/blogs/twitters .....

So many ways to communicate, yet has communicating improved? Yeah, I can reach more people faster, but what is the message? Does it have meaning? Is it being attended to? With all these avenues to communicate, is it easier or just more work? Is it really communicating, or brand building? .... hum.. just a thought.

What Forgiveness is

I was driving this morning, from dropping my son off to his daycare. My radio was tuned into the Yolanda Adams morning show. They played TD Jake's inspirational thought for the day and he was speaking on forgiveness. This truly spoke to my spirit this morning. In the Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6:9) we say "Forgive us our trespasses (sins/debts) as we forgive those that trespass (debtors, sin) against us".... with listening to TD Jakes, I realized I did not understand the full depth to that script. I now realize, that when we ask God to forgive us, what we want is for him to clean us of all we've done wrong (cancel our debt) cause we understand that is exactly what he does, and it is unconditional forgiveness. He asks that we sin not again, but instead live Holy with the guidance of His Spirit, but if we fail to do this, he doesn't place back on us the sin he already forgave us for. We are free from sins that were forgiven (canceled debt).

So God says, forgive so you can be forgiven. If you do not forgive, the Father will not forgive you. So we need to understand that forgiving someone means canceling their debt for the wrong they have done to us. Setting them free from it. We can't say I forgive you today and then tomorrow chastise them for what they did.

Hallelujah, thank God for the revelation. I don't know about you, but I know I don't want God to come back later and place back on me all my sins.

I settled on using Sugar 'n Creme Yellow (18010) and Summer Splash (19743). I took the earrings with me to the store and I feel confident this should make for a very unique color coordinated dashiki. Can't wait to get started on it!

crochet Dashiki Top Project

I'm excited about starting the Dashiki crochet project. I've been looking at this pattern for some time now. I found it in "Get Your Crochet On, Fly Tops & Funky Flavas" by Afya Ibomu (pg 48).

I went to the store this past Friday (Dot's) and found these hot lime-green earrings. This gave me a kick start inspiration to create the dashiki top in brown, yellow and green to match the earrings. I also picked up a necklace and bangle to go with earrings as a set.

Now, I'm a little discouraged as I try to find the exact color yellow and green I want for my top.
